My Dear Future Superstars,
I write this letter not from a pedestal, but from the same trenches you now occupy or soon will. I am Nin Desai, Crowdfunding Founder & CEO of NIN Ventures. Since launching the firm in 2013 as one of the first crowdfunded technology venture capital fund marketed, raised, managed, and reported online, I have lived by a simple conviction: the best ideas and the most determined founders should not be gated by zip code, pedigree, or the size of their existing rolodex.
At NIN Ventures we back early / growth-stage companies in AI in robotics, fintech, 3D printing, Industry 4.0, space tech, edtech, cloud, and other creative technologies that will define the next decade. We do so as a founder-friendly partner. We take board seats when it adds real value. We help with follow-on financing, introductions, and the hard conversations about dilution and valuation. Most importantly, we believe capital should flow to people with a clear sense of purpose - founders determined to touch millions of lives and build companies that stand the test of time.
The path you are choosing is rarely linear. Markets cycle. Capital tightens and expands. Technology shifts faster than most institutions can adapt. I have watched venture fundraising drop sharply after the pandemic boom, just as it did in 2013 - the year we began. Here is what I want you to carry with you as you embark on your journey:
Purpose First: Capital follows conviction. If your company exists merely to capture a market, the market will eventually capture you. If it exists to solve a meaningful problem at scale, resilience becomes your competitive advantage. Always stay true to your vision even when things turn and the most important lesson is to never give up.
Work Hard: Do your own work. No one has the same vision as you do. Hire if you need help. Work Hard. Be persistent, yet open to change. Be flexible.
Stay Motivated: Find a support network. If you can’t, there is nothing wrong in being alone. We are here. Whether you come to us for a $1-5 million check as part of a syndicate or as a lead in a smaller round, our goal is the same - to be the partner who shows up when the story is still being written.
Learn and Build Everyday: The best time to crowdfund venture capital was 2013. The second-best time is now. The same is true for building. The infrastructure, the talent, the regulatory framework, and the global demand for solutions in AI, advanced manufacturing, and space are aligned in ways they have not been before. Keep learning new things and building.
I come from an entrepreneurial family. I began my career at Merrill Lynch with their private client team, moved through investment banking at Pacific Crest Securities, and later private equity at Alpha Capital Partners. I have seen what happens when capital is concentrated and what becomes possible when it is democratized. That experience led me to found NIN Ventures with a dual mandate: deliver strong returns for our investors while giving exceptional founders the support they need to build enduring companies.
To those of you still refining the idea, still recruiting the first team, still navigating the first “no”- keep going. The companies that change industries are almost never the ones that looked inevitable on day one. They are the ones whose founders refused to let go and the inevitable become the only option.
Bring us the vision, the grit, and the clarity of purpose. We will bring the capital, the network, and the commitment to help you build something that lasts.
When you are ready, take the next step.
Book an appointment on https://www.nin.ventures, send us your deck with a short note about the problem you’re solving and why now, or simply introduce yourself. Whether you’re raising a $1–5 million round or looking for a thoughtful partner earlier in the journey, we want to hear from founders who lead with purpose and grit.
The future belongs to those who build it.
With respect and belief in what you (or we) will create,
Ms. Nin Desai
Crowdfunding Founder & CEO
NIN Ventures
PS: Thank you Grok for helping me find the words to better express myself.
